Owari Tokugawa Samurai & Princess Procession, Immersive Experience

Overview

This two-day, one-night historical experience tour provides foreigner visitors with a unique, historical experience of the Princess Haruhime wedding procession and a chance to discover the history and culture of Nagoya.
On day one, guests will learn of Nagoya’s history and culture on a special bus tour exploring Owari Tokugawa related sites, including the Tokugawa Art Museum and Tokugawa Gardens, Souo-ji Temple, enjoying a traditional Edomae Sushi lunch on-site, and Kosho-ji Temple for a meditation session. Guests stay overnight in Nagoya’s iconic TV tower hotel.
Day two, after a hotel breakfast, guests change into gorgeous period costumes from 400 years ago and visit historical Nagoya Castle to take part in the recreation of Princess Haruhime’s wedding procession. Visit Nagoya Castle’s magnificent Honmaru Palace, and after lunch, experience a tea ceremony and koto playing at a traditional tea ceremony room at Nagoya Castle.

Tour itinerary

Day 1:
9:30 Meet at Nagoya TV Tower
10:20 Visit Tokugawa Art Museum and Tokugawa Garden
11:40 Visit Souo-ji Temple (Lunch: Edomae Sushi)
14:30 Visit Kosho-ji Temple (Meditation experience, etc.)
17:00 THE TOWER HOTEL NAGOYA (Dinner: Hotel restaurant) Overnight stay

Day 2:
7:00 Breakfast at the hotel, then role allocation, dressing in period costume and makeup (Tokugawa Ieyasu, Okame, Tokugawa Yoshinao, Haruhime, etc.)
10:00 Go to Nagoya Castle in period costume for the Haruhime wedding procession.
11:00 Visit Honmaru Palace, stroll around Nagoya Castle (accompanied by a photographer). 12:00 Change costumes at Honmaru Palace and visit Nagoya Castle’s Ofukemaru.
12:45 Nodatezen lunch at the Sarumen Chashiki Tea Ceremony room’s Shoin
13:45 Tea ceremony experience at Sarumen Chashiki Tea Ceremony room
14:45 Koto experience in the Sarumen Chashiki Tea Ceremony room’s Shoin
16:15 Return to hotel, change out of costumes.
